If you ever have DeviantArt, you can laugh at my old ass art.

I’ll be continuing my journey there… without the added pressure of posting.

Cheers, m’dears.

The flutist taps her manicured finger lightly on the vibraphonist’s round cheek.

“Do you stress-eat?”

“Ever tried mayo on a cinnamon roll?”

“Mayo… nnaise!? … Giles, you’ve got competition. Monster. With an angelic face.”

The bassoonist looks up, smiles, and continues reading the papers.

The atomic bombings happened a month after the Burma Campaign ended, but that could lend to Kyohei’s PTSD as well. Ever since he shot the ”grenade boy”, he would’ve kept dreaming of the same jungles, and he would spot that dreaded stray grenade on the ground, its pin pulled off, and the mushroom cloud would be the last thing before waking up in cold sweat.

I’m back at work and wondering how the hell I’ll ever find time to do anything with these tracing papers I bought a week ago. I Googled “untranslatable words meaning unrealised ideas” and was disappointed to find no results other than “a dream”.

Art: He knew my family too well.
Cat: And we didn’t?
Art: Now it looks so beautiful, it’s… unbearable.

Metal foil and metallic ink

sevsartstuff:

@mynkothra asked me how metal foil differs from metallic paint. I felt that the answer could benefit more people and it was going to be too long for just a reply in the comment. I’ve tried to break down the difference in categories.

Note: I’ve only used metallic ink rather than paint.

1) Application: Metallic ink/paint are applied directly. To use metal foil you need to apply size (a type of glue used for gilding) before laying the foil on it and then gently brush away excess foil (I’ve been collecting all the brushed away part for using again).

2) Effect: both will give a metallic shine to your drawing, but since the foil is actual metal rather than metal particles in a carrying medium it will be stronger/shinier than metallic ink/paint.

3) Use with other media: the foil is opaque and waterproof so using at the beginning or the end will not have an impact on the end look (in my experience, I’ve seen people recommending the use of a pink type of size with use of gold foil since it seems to give it a warm undertone compared to other transparent or white size). I’ve found that the inks are impacted by the underlying color and while the are water-resistant they are not waterproof.

4) Ease of use: metallic ink/paint are easier since you can use them like your usual media. Applying size is the same as using ink/paint (from watching other artist, I have a cheap size pen marker thing, planning to upgrade to proper size at some point), however, metal foil means extra steps and time (apply size, apply foil, brush away excess foil). But fairly easy in both case.

5) Why use one or the other: I’ll go for the foil when I want a strong contrast with the ink and watercolor work (it’s a different media so there’s a texture element). Metallic ink when I want a softer touch. But it’s a personal choice.

6) Price: Metal foil will be a more expensive (foil+size), but unless you decide to go for real gold foil it’s not by much (I use variegated red foil).

7) I haven’t done it, but you can also give a slight 3d effect with the foil if you use a gilding paste instead of size.

I hope it helps!

Super helpful, I tend to draw shiny things so this will be a must!

If that’s how the Japanese say it… in Cantonese there’s definitely a faint “t” sound in “ts-” or “tze-”. (source)

Giles kept showing up in my dreams. This time he locked lips with Art, who… strangely seemed to like it? With closed eyes than the usual, wide eyes of being kissed. I tried to see if there was any affection felt between them. It’s more like Giles was just being a “charmer”, and Art happened to be the unlucky gentleman standing there instead of Mati. The horror if he were to witness them!

Unrelated, there was something more sinister going on. A trio of female best friends parted ways with each other, only one by one would drop dead in mysterious circumstances. I shouldn’t have looked into the Jonestown tragedy at night. An once good man whose massive ego put him on hell’s edge.
